Review and Publication Process

The Journal follows a strict single-blind peer review process, with papers reviewed by at least two specialists. The corresponding author will be informed of the acceptance of their work or any changes to be made prior to publication.

When submitting an article, it goes through several important steps before possible publication:

  1. Initial Screening

Initial Verification: The editorial assistant checks if all necessary documents have been sent and if all metadata are complete. A basic check is made to ensure compliance with publication parameters. The originality of content, including figures, is confirmed.

Editorial Verification: Editors recheck if the article meets the basic submission requirements (formatting, ethical compliance, relevance to the journal's scope).

Plagiarism Check: Plagiarism detection software is used to ensure originality.

At this stage, authors may be asked to resolve contested points. Unresolvable non-conformities are rejected by the editors.

  1. Peer Review

Peer review is single-blind (the reviewer knows the authors' identity, but not vice versa).

At least two reviewers, specialists in the article's field, evaluate the scientific quality, methods, data integrity, and relevance of the article.

This review is then evaluated by the editors, and in cases of contradictory opinions, a third reviewer is asked to review.

  1. Editorial Decision

After peer review, editors consider the reviewers' opinions (and any additional communications from the authors) and make one of the following decisions:

- Accept
- Revisions Required
- Reject

  1. Revisions

If revisions are requested, reviewers' opinions and suggestions are made available to the authors so they can make appropriate changes or refute the need to comply with reviewers' suggestions, justifying.

It is expected that a revised manuscript (or a complementary response text) with a detailed response to each comment will be submitted on the platform.

  1. Final Acceptance and Review

After acceptance, the article undergoes a final review and pagination. Finally, for articles not submitted in English, a scientific translation into English is done by a certified translator.

After these steps, authors are asked to review the final manuscript for errors before publication.

  1. Online Publication

The article is published online in open access.

The editorial board reserves the right to correct or introduce minor changes to the text, in order to improve it, provided that they do not change its meaning.

The journal's editorial policy incorporates the Editorial Policy Statements issued by the Council of Science Editors in the review and publication process available at https://www.councilscienceeditors.org/editorial-policies

Open Access Policy

The journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available leads to a greater global exchange of knowledge. The work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Licence (CC-BY-SA), which allows users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, reference articles in their entirety, or use them for any other legal purpose, without seeking prior permission from the publisher or author. This is in line with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) definition of open access.
